Fun Folds in Burgundy

I  Like to try fun fold cards . Adds some spice to life. For this card the base is soft suede with the fold on the right side of the card. I cut off a portion of the front face & added the embossed Bravo burgundy piece. It is kind of a variation on a gate fold card. The primary stamp set featured is Style Beautiful. I knew when I first saw this in the catalog I would have to have it.

Rubber Inkspiration Tips:

Emboss only a portion of the add on flap. For example, I cut about 1 1/5 inches from the soft suede piece so the burgundy piece should be 2 3/4 wide by 5 1/2 long. Emboss 1 3/4 inches of this piece, & score up to the edge of the embossing. The portion not embossed is attached to your card. This way there is a slight overlap on the front of your card.

Rockin' Petal Pizzazz

I was playing around with the rock-n-roll technique to see how various colors went together. This card uses a number of combinations. I used crystal effects on the flower centers & added glitter to the popped up flower. This is a bright happy card and it makes me smile. Here in Alberta, we still have a ton of snow on the ground and a little more each day. I understand we have been 20 degrees below normal for the week or so and it is supposed to be that way for awhile.

Rubber Inkspirations Tips:

• Pop up one full flower to add dimension.
• Let you image "over hang" the frame to add some interest.

PPA83 Challenge

I thought I would try my hand at the color challenge at Pals Paper Arts. I saw a card similar to this on a blog  but I can't remember who. It is a spin on the retiform technique. Thuis is my first try at this technique.

Rubber Inkspirations Tips:

• Use sticky Sticky notes so they stay put while you ink the edges, mine were not very sticky & kept slipping.
• Try to sponge grid edges evenly, so they have the same color value.
• Using piercing tool to make hole for the brad.

Plane Suede

I made this card for my Grandfather. He will be 96 on his birthday. Unfortunately, he lives in Nova Scotia so I will not be spending this milestone birthday with him. He has certainly seen the world change in his time. I thought he would like this old world plane.

Bright Birthday

I often use muted and earth colors for my cards. I used the free Ice Cream Palor DSP & Accents kit to create this simple birthday card. This sketch idea came from Dawn Olchefske .I thought Ughh when I first cut the DSP and tried different combos on my desk. I finished with the sketch and I thought that`s okay. Nice bright birthday card. My husband liked this one.

Cut One Strip of DSP 1 5/8 x 5 1/4 then cut into two pieces:

• 1-5/8" x 1-3/4" 
• 1-5/8" x 3-1/2"

Cut a second strip of DSP 2 3/8 x 5 1/4 then cut inti 2 pieces

• 2-3/8" x 3-1/2"
  2-3/8" x 1-3/4"

Guitar Trio

My son loves orange. It has been his favorite color since he was little. I created this simple card using Grunge rock Stamp set. I like how it turned out. The idea was based on a card I saw somewhere on the internet. I forget who , but if it is you, let me know so I can give you credit. Thanks for stopping in today.

Mojo Monday Sketch 179

My first time completing a Mojo Monday Sketch on the week of the sketch. I will try to play each week and challenge myself to use all my new stuff. Sorry for the poor quality photo. I took this at night. The Stamp used can be yours free with a $60 purchase.

Rubber Inkspiration Tips:

• Remove the metal part from the brads and you have instant Jewels.
• Fold Old Olive paper and cut free hand leaves. While paper is folded, run through paper crimper on an angle to create leave veins. Ink leaves with sponge and old olive ink for added depth.
• I nked whisper white card stock for the flowers to get the color and variation I was looking for.
• Use bone folder to curl paper flowers to make them dimensional with some added texture.

Butterfly Blues

I really love butterflies. When I saw this image, I had to have it. I like how open & airy the butterfly is. The butter fly was colored with a blender pen. The blue/vanilla flower print is my favorite from this DSP pack. Love it !!

Rubber Inkspiration Tips:

•  Watercolor Effect - Use markers to scribble some ink on a pallet (I used an acrylic block) or use lid of stamp pad (while closed, give the pad a squeeze to transfer ink from pad onto lid.) Pick up color with a blender pen. Start with lightest color first. Scribble blender pen on scrap paper until it marks clear to clean tip.
• Assemble card before adding glitter using the two way pen. That way your glitter won't transfer onto your work surface.
